Finally we are getting somewhere ..
After several months of having to do other things i have managed to get on a bit with my SWM 320 .. it now looks like this.
I have now fitted the lower half of an Aprilia TXR312 engine, the Alloy swing arm, Aprilia fork yokes for better stiffness and bar position and also made brackets to reposition the footrests lower and slightly further back.

Re: Finally we are getting somewhere ..
Many thanks... but to the purist it may not be so nice
My original SWM Rotax engine had an issue with the gears and kickstart so it was easier to put the Aprilia lower half in there rather than completely strip it down and rebuild it. I have added an extension onto the Aprilia clutch arm that makes things very light weight but will need to make sure it performs ok in sections first.
I have also today lowered the footbrake pedal and added an extension onto the pedal, i just need to either buy a later rear brake arm or extend the original short one to give a good action at the pedal.
The Aprilia has a lighter weight flywheel and this seems to allow the engine to rev much quicker.. as i am used to my 290 Beta Evo i like a quicker engine!

Yes... i help with the Trial Magazine web site here in the UK and also contribute photos and articles at times to the magazines. I have been asked to put something together about my SWM so it may appear in print in the future...
The Trial Classic shirt looks very good, even on an old body like mine

I have tried to keep the bike as original as possible.... but it does have an Aprilia TXR Engine lower in it now. I was going to just use the Aprilia clutch cover for the better lever action but the Rotax engine that was with the bike had some issues with kickstart shaft and gears so i placed the original SWM cylinder, cylinder head and piston kit onto the Aprilia lower half. As a bonus i discovered the flywheel is slightly lighter in weight so it revs a bit quicker which is how i prefer it.
Also the fork clamps, top and bottom, are from the Aprilia as i wanted 4 bolt fitting to keep things a bit stiffer... it also allowed the bar position to be much better.
The Swing arm and front forks are off a 1983 model Jumbo... so the whole bike is still from the 80's
I didn't want a "special" that was all trick new parts and modified frame angles etc.. i wanted to keep in the spirit of the twinshock age as much as possible but have a bike i enjoyed riding.
Re: Finally we are getting somewhere ..
you've got a very nice bike!!
I've done something in the same spirit with a 83 model I bought a few months ago in a very poor condition;the flywheel was out of order, the clutch too, and so on (wheels, fork, spindles, etc)
But the frame was OK and had the alloy swingarm, that was the most important for me
So I used an old Aprilia climber lower engine I Had in a corner a my garage et I put on it the cylinder of the SWM, keeping by the way the lighter electronic ignition of the Climber
As the engine begun too nervous (for me) I kept the SWM weight at the transmission end of the flywheel and his clutch cover ( the Aprilia can't accept the wheight)
At last it seems to work nicely butI have to try it more to be sure it is a good choise!
some photos of the bike (not so pretty than yours!) [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image]
